We first met banjo player Steven McCluskey back in the late 1980’s when he won the banjo competition at Edale at a young age so it was with great delight and anticipation that I received a CD from him about the Scottish band GREEN GOBLIN that he now plays in. 4 home produced tracks of a very high quality was the result. Steven always had a fast pair of hands and so do the rest of the members of GREEN GOBLIN . However its not just about speed and the band play with good taste and timing and if you are a Flecktones fan then you will no doubt like this band. They do have their own distinctive style and material. ‘Old Joe Clarke’ gets a complete revamp and this CD demo’ is impressive in every department. I hope someone somewhere gives them a record deal because given studio time and money I think they would produce some high quality music for everyone .
